Description

Learning Objectives:

  • Summarize key neuroscience principles that enhance teaching effectiveness and support a positive, low-stress learning environment.
  • Demonstrate proper syringe handling techniques, including stabilization and retraction methods.
  • Practice teaching positive aspiration and identifying needle depth within tissue.
  • Apply strategies to build student confidence through hands-on practice and clear, structured guidance.

In this course, dental hygiene educators will learn how to build students’ confidence in local anesthesia through effective hands-on teaching strategies. While grounded in key neuroscience principles, the focus is on practical techniques for improving students’ proficiency in injection delivery. Participants will explore methods for teaching proper syringe handling, stabilization, retraction, positive aspiration, and needle depth identification. By emphasizing interactive demonstrations and skill-building exercises, this course equips educators with tools to create a supportive learning environment that fosters both competence and confidence in their students.
